POLICE CONFIRM SHOOTING INCIDENT IN TOMONDO

Ally Mohammed, Zanzibar.

 

Police Commander for Urban West Region Mkadam Khamis Mkadam, has confirmed that Government Marine Army Forces (KMKM) fired into the air in Tomondo after residents refused to confine their cows, which were said to by the Municipal Council of Unguja to be wandering loose.

He further confirmed that three people were wounded during the incident, and that they were taken to Al-Rahma Hospital in Kilimani for medical attention. However, he had no further comment about what happened.

Another source reports that the three men wounded in this incident have been identified by their first names as Yussuf, Salum, and Ibrahim, all residents of Tomondo.

There are additional reports that KMKM units have returned to the site of the incident. We will continue to update you as we receive more news.
