Tarime — The ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi and the opposition Chama Cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo have launched their parliamentary campaigns in Tarime Rural constituency with pledges of improving lives of the area's residents.
CCM launched campaigns on Tuesday at Nyarwana village, the home village of its parliamentary candidate, Mr Christopher Ryoba Kangoye.
Chadema also launched campaigns at Sirari area where several speakers, including Ms Esther Bulaya and Ezekiel Wenje, addressed a public rally.
Ms Bulaya, a former CCM Special Seats legislator, is contesting for Bunda Urban constituency on Chadema ticket while Mr Wenje is seeking re-election in Nyamagana constituency in Mwanza Region.
The two parliamentary candidates urged Tarime residents to vote for the Coalition of Four Parties, Ukawa, candidates from local government leaders to the president.
"It's time to make changes starting from the local government level," Ms Bulaya said. Chadema Tarime Rural parliamentary candidate Mr John Heche said if elected he would ensure that Sirari is upgraded into a township bid to speed up socio-economic development in the area.
